Am I a Candidate for Veneers?

Am I a Candidate for Veneers?

Am I a candidate for veneers?

Porcelain veneers are an excellent solution for dealing with a wide range of dental problems. However, not all patients are good candidates for this dental treatment. Our Simi Valley dentist will show you some of the criteria that our patients should meet to get veneers.

  1. Healthy teeth: If the patient has serious problems with gum disease, tooth fractures or periodontal disease, then he or she is not a good candidate for porcelain veneers. Even though our Simi Valley dentist wouldn’t be able to start treatment, he can correct previous dental problems that the patient may have. Once this is done, our dentist in Simi Valley will be able to begin the veneers treatment without any issues.

Discolored teeth can be bleached, crowded teeth can be aligned by orthodontics and chipped teeth can be restored by dental adhesion. This happens because dentistry has specific treatments for each case, but the great advantage of porcelain veneers is that they allow for correcting multiple smile defects with a single treatment. This way, if you have several problems with your smile, porcelain veneers can fix them all in one go.

So, to summarize, if you have cavities, gingivitis or broken teeth, you are not a good candidate for dental veneers. No dentist can place porcelain veneers on teeth or gums that are not healthy. However, if you treat and correct these problems, you will become a perfect candidate for veneers.

  2. No teeth grinding: Patients who severely clench or grind their teeth are not good candidates for porcelain veneers. Actually, veneers are made of good materials and are really durable, but not as strong as natural teeth. Thus, parafunctional habits such as bruxism can splinter or break them more easily. Some patients who only squeeze or grind their teeth at night can get porcelain veneers if they use a dental guard while they sleep.

  3. Good tooth enamel: Veneers adhere to the enamel on the surface of the teeth. If the patient has lost a significant amount of tooth enamel, the effectiveness of the treatment may actually be compromised.

  4. Teeth Alignment: Misaligned teeth can cause problems in the placement and success of porcelain veneers. In fact, the positioning of the jaw when biting exerts pressure on them and misaligned teeth can crack more easily. To correct a bad alignment, it is advisable to go through an orthodontic treatment first.

  5. The desire to have a beautiful smile! Porcelain veneers are probably the quickest and easiest way to achieve an ideal smile. The truth is that a treatment that does not involve excessive visits to the dentist – and finding the right dentist in Simi Valley – is not at all complicated!

If you want to have a nice and beautiful smile, visit the Dental Center of Simi Valley. Our Simi Valley dentist will evaluate the state of your oral health and will determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment.
